The Diocese of Oklahoma
St. Luke’s supports the work of the diocese, as well as the
National Church, through our annual assessment to the diocese.
In addition, clergy and laypersons are encouraged to serve on
diocesan boards, commissions and committees.
Concern
This ecumenical community organization provides emergency
financial aid, food and clothing to families in need and other
programs designed to help people to help themselves. Concern
also has a Learning Center that serves preschool children with
fees based on a sliding fee scale. (918-336.4693)
Agape Mission
The mission serves free meals from 11:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through
Saturday, and provides food baskets to those in need. Although it is
supported primarily by First Assembly of God, their desire is for this
mission to belong to and be supported by the Bartlesville Christian
community. (918-333.3257) |
Kane Reading Mentors
St. Luke’s provides volunteer reading mentors for Kane
Elementary students. Mentors meet with children one on one
each week to improve their reading skills. This ministry
involves one hour per week. This ministry received the
Education Association's Friend of Education award for 2000.
(918-336.1212)Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
ECW supports and encourages each other to live by our baptismal
vows by providing the environment to enrich and give wings to
our ministry at home and in the world. We serve at the local
level through the Episcopal Women's Altar Guild and statewide
through the Guild of the Christ Child. From the Diocesan level
we are connected to the Provincial and National Boards of
Church Women. Each Episcopal woman is automatically a member.
Luncheons are held the third Monday of each month to welcome
friends, neighbors and newcomers to St. Luke's. |
Guild of the Christ Child
Believing each child should be exposed to the love of God,
the Guild of the Christ Child proposes to be the hands of
Jesus to bless children through our talents and resources.
We purchase supplies and materials through your donations
and make handmade quilts, afghans, etc. totaling 1200
layettes yearly. The attending nurse in each of 17 medical
facilities distributes these across Oklahoma to low-income
and no-income families. The Guild was awarded the OK Institute
for Child Advocacy Friends of Children Award for 2002.
Examples of our work hang at the entrance to Metcalf Hall
before being delivered to the Diocesan Center monthly.
